Hospitability is hospitality 2.0

Hospitability: Hospitality 2.0
The concept of 'hospitality' is still too often associated with the warm reception and service in the hospitality industry. The one-sided image of a host or hostess going to great lengths to please the guest is deeply ingrained. However, in my view, this perspective is now outdated. It is time for a new approach: Hospitability.

Hospitability: A Dialogue based on mutual expectations
We live in a world where borders are blurring, and cultures are becoming increasingly intertwined. This demands greater mutual knowledge, understanding, and respect for one another. A friendly smile alone is no longer enough. Hospitability is about dialogue, harmony, and togetherness. It involves truly listening, understanding each other, and finding a balance together. It is an interaction in which both parties are willing to open and actively contribute to a shared, positive, and meaningful experience.

Hospitability: Broadly applicable in society
Hospitability goes beyond the traditional hospitality within the hospitality industry. It is a valuable principle that can be applied to all areas of society. From how we interact in the workplace to how we welcome new neighbors to our community. It is all about mutual respect and creating an environment – whether living or working – where everyone feels welcome, heard, and respected. This extends much further into organizational culture, structure, and human values.
